Golfers - This one is for you!

DATELINE September 11-12, 2015 - Our 50th class reunion schedule is loaded with activities  and fun for all.  Even before and after the reunion there are a lot of fun and interesting venues  in the DFW area that you can do. Some of these were described in a recent posting on our  PHS class website written by Suzanne & Gerald.  However, the most important thing , and in  fact the reason for gathering, is to have plenty of time to reminisce, catch up, and just visit  with our classmates.  During all phases of the reunion planning this reason has been on our minds and we feel certain these reunion activities will not impede but will enhance.

I would like to share with you the details of one of the fun activity choices for Friday afternoon and/or Saturday morning……golf outings

On Friday we will be at the Grapevine Golf Course . This is an interesting and fun golf course with a mix of challenging holes. Even though this 27 hole tract is municipal and gets a lot of play, it always seems to be well maintained and in good condition.

Our tee times will begin around noon and run consecutively. This way we will be able to move through the course in close proximity to each other. As we have at previous reunions we will play in a scramble format. This setup always seems to be popular and provides the best opportunity for a great time and plenty of laughs. If you will remember, this format allows all levels of players to contribute to their team scores. In fact, it’s not normally the best team tee shots or iron shots that prevail; the hot putting team usually walks away with the top prizes.  So, please feel welcome in joining us for a great time of visiting with a little golf mixed in!! If you want to organize your own foursome or threesome for this event, feel free to do so. Or, if you don’t want to join in the scramble format and just want to play your own ball with a foursome, we can accommodate that also.

The cost will be $59+tax and includes green fee and cart. Transportation to and from the course is not an issue for any classmates that have flown in or their spouses may be using their vehicle on another reunion related activity. We will have plenty of cars and/or vans. We will be back at the hotel in time to attend our Friday night function.

For the classmates that can’t make the Friday outing and/or for those who want a second dose of golf, we have set up a Saturday morning event.  This will be at the Frisco Lakes Golf Course (in nearby Frisco. One might think with lakes in the name that there would be too much water…not the case. It certainly does have some holes with water but it doesn’t dominate the course and overwhelm every shot you hit. It is flat out enjoyable and it is always well maintained.

These tee times will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will run consecutively for our group. The cost will be $57+tax and includes green fee and carts with GPS. Again, plenty of transportation will be available. The specifics mentioned above for the Friday outing will be the same for this one with special emphasis on laughter and fun!

Sign-up forms will be sent along via our class website at a later date. Again, we hope you consider either or both outings……we have special ordered great weather and are confident we will have a blast!

See you soon,

Jerry Goodwin
